Shock/Drop Testing

What’s the different between a shock test and a drop test? Quite a lot in fact although both will provide a very damaging test to your product. Shock/Drop testing can be as simple as dropping your product onto a pre-determined surface from a set height. But in reality to do this repeatably under the same conditions will require equipment that controls all the variables. Shock testing is another step forward and allows the engineer to control amplitude and timebase and indeed the shock pulse shape, then we get to Shock Response Spectra (SRS) another more complex methodology.
